Back to Basics

At UberJobs, we strongly believe in simplification.  Hence, this is why our website is designed to be as simple as possible -- making it easy for our users to post their ads.

When we created UberJobs, we started out with two tabs:  Jobs and Resumes.  Later on, partially as an experiment, and partially because of demand, we expanded out to five tabs:  Jobs, Resumes, Volunteer, Work At Home, and Services.  Our software seemed suited for the volunteer and service markets, and we were seeing a lot of “Work at Home” jobs as well.

Over the past week, however, we have removed those additional three tabs from our website.  In essence, we are going back to basics.  Here are the reasons why we removed those tabs:

  • Volunteer:  Not enough people were posting volunteer jobs.  This market is clearly being served well enough by other free websites.

  • Services:  We found a lot of people were getting confused and posting job ads in the Services section.  And when they do that, their jobs are not picked up by vertical job search engines.  We wanted to eliminate this confusion and make the site simpler.

  • Work at Home:  This section has been the source of much frustration, to say the least.  We, here at UberJobs, no longer believe in “Work at Home” jobs.  From our experience, 95% of them are job scams.  As a general policy, we remove as many as we can from our sites now.

As a result, we hope these changes will make the website easier to use.  Thank you for your continued support!
